Douglas Brooks, Ph.D.
Dr. Douglas Brooks has been a leading figure in the academic study and the practice of Shrividya Shakta Tantrism for more than twenty-five years. Beginning his formal studies in the Sanskrit and Tamil languages as well as the study of Hinduism and the history of religions in 1977, Douglas lived and worked in the home of his teacher Dr. Gopala Aiyar Sundaramoorthy in south India for more than six years.
Douglas completed Masters and Doctorate degrees from Harvard University and today is recognized as both an eminent scholar and master practitioner of Shakta Tantrism. He has been invited to teach and offer the vast wealth of his experience in seminars, gatherings, and retreats all over the world.
Since 1986, Douglas has held a full time appointment in the Department of Religion and Classics at the University of Rochester where he holds a senior chair as Professor of Religion.
New York City transplant, Amy travels the globe extensively helping people bridge the gap between ancient yoga wisdom and modern day life. She believes everyone has the capacity to “turn up their own volume.” Amy is a pioneer for advanced yoga education and the founder of “90 Minutes to Change the WorldTM”, a professional development program that has enhanced the teaching and career skills of over 1000 yoga teachers worldwide. She has appeared on the covers of Yoga Journal and Fit Yoga Magazine, as well as inside numerous publications including Yoga International, Yoga Journal, Self, New York Magazine, Yogini Magazine (Japan), Allure (Korea), and Elephant Journal. Amy is a faculty member at the Omega Institute and Kripalu. Since the age of 14 Amy has championed all forms of eco-consciousness, rainforest and marine conservation, and animals everywhere.
Garth Stevenson is a Brooklyn-based double bassist and film composer. Raised in the mountains of Western Canada, nature became his primary inspiration and the common thread between his life and music. His most recent and critically acclaimed release, Flying, is a seventy-five minute homage to a recent life-changing trip to Antarctica.
Stevenson introduced his music to the yoga community at the Wanderlust Festival where he improvised during classes and lead large groups of hikers into the mountains to perform his solo music.
His latest album Flying is being used by teachers all over the world in yoga classes and was featured in the in Yoga Journal, Origin Magazine, Yoganonymous, and Flow Yoga Magazine.
San Francisco based guitarist/multi-instrumentalist and composer Todd Boston lives a musical life. He brings with him a devoted heart to connect, share and enrich the lives of those he touches through the positive effects of music, sound, and vibration. Moving rhythmically and melodically with each yoga pose, Todd plays to the moment helping to create an unforgettable yoga experience.
He has performed at prominent festivals such as Wanderlust Festival Earthdance, and at events featuring Joan Baez, Michael Franti, Jai Uttal, MC Yogi, Sila and the AfroFunk Experience and more.
